2. FD & C Red No. 40
This is the name used for a popular food dye. The basic reason why food manufacturers use it is to create vivid colors for their products and to improve the flavor. You can find FD&C Red No.40 in many products including chips, fruit snacks and sports drinks. But, you should never judge a food by its color. Several studies have confirmed the connection between this food additive and ADHD and hypersensitivity in both adults and children.
So, avoid RED colored food. Make sure that every food you consume is free of this potentially dangerous dye.
3. Hydrogenated Oils
Processed oils like hydrogenated oils are used to increase the shelf life of food products. These oils are the direct reason why trans fat occur in foods. This type of fat is increasing cholesterol levels and leads to overweight because the body spends more time and efforts to process it. In addition, it can lead to moodiness and brain fog.
Try to choose foods with short expiration food because they are better for your mood and weight. Choose products that last for one week or two weeks. Opt for healthy oils like raw extra virgin olive oil.
If you take a close look at the ingredients found in sugar-free products you will notice that most of them have aspartame. This ingredient is used to sweeten these products. So, even though you believe that you are doing something good when you purchase sugar-free products, you are actually wrong. 5. FD & C Yellow No. 5
Unfortunately the human body cannot process chemicals and this is surely one of those chemicals. This is a food dye that is frequently used in gum, soft drinks and cookies. If the product comes with large amounts of yellow food dye, it will certainly make the food appear yellowish. This specific food dye was related to mood disorders, allergic problems and asthma.
If the food contains this yellow dye, stay away from it. Always be careful before you try some food that appears too colorful because they probably contain some food dyes.
6. Monosodium Glutamate
MSG or monosodium glutamate is a common ingredient in packaged foods used to extend shelf life and improve flavor. There are many products on the market like frozen meals, soups and chips that have MSG. By consuming even small quantities of MSG we can face nausea, dizziness and feelings of weakness and anxiety.
If the food contains monosodium glutamate, then it is not good for the body. The worst part is that the FDA doesn’t ask the manufacturers to list MSG on the list of ingredients. So, in order to avoid any problems use organic products and products with MSG free labels.
